Positioned as a waypoint across the south ocean, the services offered to resupply both ship and crew are vast. Ships travelling from Shalkara to Chenooet find it the most suitable stopping point, which Ghassanians do everything in their power to encourage. Additionally, the ports act as the south gate of the Azur, allowing sale, negotiation, and resupply for those coming from or travelling to the north. Accordingly with their trade status, the markets of Ghassania are renowned around Gaia for their scale and breadth.

Early History
National History
Originally a colony of Uthmanli, Ghassania occupies a large, island like area and is largely devoid of resources interesting to the Uthmanli. Because of this, as the Uthmanli Empire began its decline and loss of land, it pulled troops from the area that would become Ghassania first. Despite the order, a number of settlers remained, merging with the native human tribes that lived against the mountains of the east, forming their own governments as they were left to fend for themselves.
Sometime later, dense forested groves were discovered in the east of the region which, alongside sea trade with the coastal cities, encouraged the art of shipbuilding and, eventually, sea trade. Where Uthmani took a dim view of sailing, the Ghassanian people look to it as an essential life blood of their society, turning their coast into a paradise for traders of all ways and means.
With this discovery, a slow trickle of Gael'brah started to enter the country, taking up residence in the grassy interior and among the discovered forests. The locals welcomed them and their willingness to teach the ways of woodworking and tree tending. This partnership has since grown into one of the largest concentrations of Gael'brah outside of Sylvanator, such that they are well recognized and represented within Ghassanian politics. Often, one of the Triumvirate is Gael'brah, bridging the interests of the people groups.
